Postural Condition – Righting Reflex
The Righting Reflex describes the tendency of the body to bring the eyes level with the horizon no matter what
- If for example the neck flexors are tight and force the head into flexion, some neck extensors like the suboccipitals will shorten to bring the eyes level again (see upper and lower crossed syndromes)
- In the horizontal plane short muscles on one side will lead to shortening of lateral flexors on the other side (see ZIG ZAG patterns)
